krotonian Theono
Krotonian Theano holds an important place among female philosophers because she was the first known female philosopher of her time, living in the 5th century BC. However, unfortunately, we do not have clear information about where Theano was born and her family. Some sources suggest that she was the wife of Pythagoras. After Pythagoras' death, Theano took over the leadership of the school, which demonstrates her considerable philosophical abilities. In addition to philosophy, she also worked on medicine and mathematics. Some even claim that she wrote about the golden ratio, although this has never been fully substantiated. There are many works attributed to her, but only a section of her work "On Piety" has survived to this day. In this section, it is seen that Theano clarified Pythagoras' teaching on numbers.
